Supply Chain

With approximately 1,000 employees located across the province, Supply Chain manages over $2 billion in total annual spending on behalf of all six BC health authorities.  Supply Chain covers all elements of supply chain management including contracting, materials management (purchasing, warehousing and distribution) and accounts payable.

When Supply Chain began operations, the anticipated procurement savings for the first five years (Feb. 2009 – March 2014) were estimated at $150 million.  By March 2013, Supply Chain had already exceeded that estimate by millions of dollars, having achieved more than $230 million in projected savings.

An integrated provincial model combines centralized and decentralized business functions, always recognizing the needs of the local regions.  Supply Chain has regional branch offices in each health authority to ensure local presence and attention to each authority's needs.

Sourcing contracts for and manages close to 3,000 contracts and processes more than 925,000 purchase orders with a value over $2B of annual spend.  Materiels Management moved more than 250 million products.  The Lower Mainland Distribution Centre is the hub for all supplies (other than pharmaceuticals) for the Lower Mainland, delivering to 42 hospital/sites that support over 7,500 acute, extended and residential care beds.
