Support Services' mission is to enhance value to the health system through the effective and efficient delivery of support services. Support Services is an innovative enterprise for the province.

Internationally recognized as a leader in shared services, Support Services has been designed in a way that enables health authorities to achieve more collectively than they could independently.  The shared services model ensures a more sustainable, publicly funded health care system.

Our Role

Support Services provides non-clinical support services to British Columbia’s health authorities with a mandate to:

  • Create enhanced value to the health care system through increased process efficiency, standardization, capital avoidance and leveraging of buying power;

  • Enhance service quality through delivery of customer-focused services; and

  • Improve alignment and integration across the health authorities.

The purpose of support services is to enable the health authorities to be more effective and efficient by integrating common non-clinical service delivery.

By working collaboratively, delivering common non-clinical services such as supply chain management, technology services, and finance and employee services, Support Services ensures health authorities get the most value for every dollar spent.

Additional benefits include:

  • Economies of scale by working collaboratively

  • Increased opportunities for career development and the retention of skilled employees

  • Reduced duplication, with consolidated systems and technology

  • Demonstrated results showing the costs of doing business are transparent and equitable

  • Focus on customer service and performance management
