Anatomical Pathology is the name given to the scientific process for the preparation and microscopic examination of tissues at a cellular level to provide a diagnosis that provides direction for patient care and treatment. Surgical or histopathology, cytology and autopsy services are subsections under the broader title of Anatomical Pathology.
The Anatomical Pathology Advisory Group was established by the Laboratory Agency in January of 2017 to include a cross section of members to contribute their expertise, medical, technical, and operational, on provincial Anatomical Pathology issues. Through a collaborative process the group will support the Agency‘s value drivers of capacity, access, quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability, by the development of standardized procedure documents, investigation of existing services, consideration and implementation of technology innovations and alignment of resources.
